IGT listed on Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index
London based gambling company IGT has been chosen as part of the 2020 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index. The selection recognizes companies’ efforts in advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index is made up of 325 companies across 50 industries.
IGT Are Driving Change
IGT can be found on the list under the name ‘International Game Technology PLC’. The company is a global leader in the igaming industry. It has built its reputation on providing quality products and services for casinos, both online and offline. In particular, it is esteemed for the slot machines it produces. IGT has its headquarters based in London, with many more offices around the world. These include locations like Las Vegas, Rome and Rhode Island.
The Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index highlights the efforts of companies that are committed to “advancing women’s equality and transparently reporting gender data”. Through recognizing these achievements, other companies are encouraged to improve their own records when it comes to workplace equality. According to Bloomberg, its 2020 Gender-Equality Index consists of 325 companies headquartered in 42 countries and regions.
“The Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) tracks the financial performance of public companies committed to supporting gender equality through policy development, representation, and transparency.”
Bloomberg uses a specific and carefully considered set of criteria to compile the index. Gender equality is measured by assessing companies in five qualities. These are ‘female leadership and talent pipeline’, ‘equal pay and gender pay parity’, ‘inclusive culture’, ‘sexual harassment policies’, and ‘pro-women brand’.
“Diversity and inclusion are critical to IGT’s identity and the value it creates in the market, which is why we’re proud to be distinguished by Bloomberg for our initiatives advancing gender equality within the Company. Being selected as part of this index reflects our overall commitment to making IGT a more diverse and inclusive workplace for its 12,000 employees around the world. We look forward to continuing our work related to gender, as well as many other dimensions of diversity, in the years to come.”– Mario Di Loreto, Executive Vice President of People and Transformation, IGT
Bloomberg Chairman, Peter T. Grauer, has championed the companies listed in the index for their contribution towards gender equality in the workplace. Through driving change and sharing their fair hiring practice, these companies act as positive role models for other companies in these industries.
“This level of transparency into how companies are tackling gender equality in the workplace and their local communities is fueling financial decision-making around the world, and is supporting the business case for an inclusive corporate environment.”
“The 325 companies included in the 2020 GEI have shown their commitment to transparency and demonstrated leadership in gender-related data reporting. Disclosure of company statistics and practices is an important first step in supporting gender equality globally.”– Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg
This is not the first time that IGT has been applauded as a diverse and inclusive workplace. Last September, the company was formally recognized for its contribution at the Pride of Gaming Awards. The award ceremony took place at the Safer Gambling Forum at the Natural History Museum in London. Kim Barker Lee, IGT’s Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion accepted the award, saying “IGT recognizes that it is necessary to have a multicultural workforce to operate effectively in the global marketplace”.
