Play’n GO Announce Release of Demon Slot Game

Published on: 07/10/2019

For its newest release, software developer Play’n GO collaborated with ‘70s heavy metal band Demon, creating a game with a companion album from the band. Following Play’n GO’s work with Sabaton, Black Mamba, and House of Doom, this marks Play’n GO’s fourth music-themed project, but its first in which the featured band had such extensive creative control.

Who Is Demon?

Demon is a new wave British heavy metal band which first rose to prominence in the 1970s, among the likes of Def Leppard and Iron Maiden, originally formed by Dave Hill and Mal Spooner.

Exclusive Content for Demon Fans

The game Demon comes with an exclusive new track from the band, an unlockable bonus track called “Devil Rides Out,” which can be accessed after 100 proper money spins. Demon’s followup album will not only include “Devil Rides Out” among its tracks, but will also feature artwork from the game.

Helluva Game

Fittingly, Demon takes inspiration from the name and aesthetics of the band with occult-feeling aesthetics, including fiery pentagrams, stone gargoyles, outstretched bat wings, and, of course, blasting heavy metal music. This 3×5 slot’s look pulls heavily from the band’s lead singer, Dave Hill, and crazy Wilds. A central feature is the “Wild Mask” — a Baphomet occult symbol that appears on the middle reel, turning all icons of Dave Hill into wilds if you land on it. This can give you 10x your original stake in combination.

In total, the game has 12 symbols, five of which are low paying (10, J, Q, K, and A). The higher paying symbols in the game, of which there are also five, include the Dave Hill symbol, as well as a gargoyle, a man with two faces, heavy metal-style crosses, and statues of women.

A feature in the game called “Helluva Night” unlocks what’s called “Depths of Hell Nested” extra spins.

Other features include “Free Spins” and “Hell Spins.” If a Free Spin is successfully unlocked, the player’s wins will be multiplied by two, three, five, or eight times their original winnings. If the Wild Mask symbol falls in the center of the wheel, you can get up to 11 free spins (six if the Wild Mask falls on the top of bottom of the center reel).

As for the “Hell Spins,” these are unlocked by landing wild symbols on reels 1 and 5. The player will have a random number of spins given to them (somewhere between four and eight spins). If the wild mask appears on the third wheel during the “Hell Spins,” the player can get between 6 and 10 additional spins, and if the wild mask also appears in the center of the middle reel, the win multiplier is automatically doubled for the player for the rest of their game.

The Stats & Stakes

Demon offers 30 fixed pay lines. It’s a medium volatility game, with a baseline 96.50% RTP and a maximum possible win of 2500 times their original stake. Players can access Demon on their computers or cell phones for 30 cents to 90 euros ($98) per spin.

Continuing a Trend, Play’n GO Branches into Music Once More

Demon marks the fourth release by Play’n GO centered around a metal band. The first from the company was Sabaton, a power metal band from Sweden, and the second was House of Doom, also a metal band. Within the same time frame as releasing Demon, Play’n GO has also released Black Mamba, a classic rock-themed game. Sabaton and House of Doom follow very similar formats to Demon.

In a press statement from Play’n GO about this new release, the company’s COO, Martin Zettergren, said:

“[N]ot only do we bring our usual levels of creativity and entertainment to each slot, but we really capture the spirit of the band, giving it that something extra.”

What’s on the Horizon For Play’n GO?

Play’n GO has recently partnered with Kindred Group and Codere, an online gambling operator in Malta and a multinational company based out of Spain, respectively.

The Reviews Are In

In general, players are not overwhelmingly enthusiastic about Play’n GO’s latest release. Overall, the consensus is that the stakes are too low and unrewarding, resulting in unexciting gameplay. Moreover, critics note that many are not familiar with Demon, leaving the game with little new to offer.
