Sporting Index Launch Android’s First UK Sports Betting App
The Google Play Store is now home to its first sports spread betting application, after Sporting Index announced the launch just weeks after gambling apps were finally permitted on the service.
Sporting Index, from the recently rebranded, London-based Sporting Group, is a newly designed app which synchronises automatically with the desktop version, meaning existing users can log in and instantly apply their personal preferences on mobile and tablet platforms.
Product Manager at Sporting Index, Jamie Adams, says the company is delighted to be able to expand their reach with the market-first app.

Implemented in 2013, Google’s self-imposed ban on gambling and betting applications was lifted on August 2nd, 2017, as ‘an experiment’ to offer new experiences on its store. The changes only apply to the UK, France and Ireland, and it represents a huge fillip for the UK’s already thriving mobile gambling industry.
The UK Gambling Commission recently announced that between October 2015 and September 2016, the remote gambling sector accounted for almost a third of the country’s £13.8bn gambling yield.
Online gambling industry titans 888 Holdings and Coral have also been quick to take advantage, launching their mobile casino products almost immediately. Operators hoping to upload their products onto the Google Play Store must submit an application and comply with strict regulatory requirements.
It is widely expected that many more sports betting and casino operators will be hurriedly following suit to take advantage of a lack of competition and increased marketability.
